Frequently Asked Questions

How does the domain availability check work?

We query the registry RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) endpoint for the TLD you searched. RDAP is the modern, ICANN-mandated replacement for WHOIS and returns authoritative ownership data straight from the registry. If RDAP returns no record for the domain, it's genuinely unregistered.

Where do the prices on the results page come from?

An automated pipeline pulls fresh registration, renewal, and transfer prices from each of the 44 registrars every day at 6:00 AM UTC. The price table you see was published by the registrars themselves within the last 24 hours.

What if I don't type a TLD?

We default to .com — the most-searched TLD by an order of magnitude. The results page still surfaces alternative extensions (.io, .net, .dev, .ai, etc.) with live prices for the same base name, so you can pivot if .com is taken or too expensive.

Do you sell domains directly?

No. We're a price-comparison and editorial review site, not a registrar. Each row in the results table links to the registrar that publishes that price; you complete the registration on their website. We don't take affiliate commissions on the prices shown.
